Welcome to Geo Thermal - Dynamic Drilling!Geo Thermal-Dynamic Drilling specializes in drilling vertical wells for residential and commercial geothermal heat pump applications and residential water wells for the Black Hills area. Our services include drilling boreholes for geothermal "loops", installation of the loops, grouting the boreholes full with thermally enhanced grout to further enhance the efficiency of the heat pump, trenching and fusing the piping into the structure, and backfill and compacting of the trenches. Our thermally enhanced grout serves two purposes, first to enhance the thermal heat transfer with the surrounding soils, and second to ensure that the grout does not dry out and crack leaving voids in the borehole destroying the thermal heat transfer. After the job is done we also provide a detailed wellfield layout showing dimensions to each well and location of piping trenches.
Geothermal Heating and CoolingGeothermal heating and cooling systems, also known as geo-exchange, geothermal heat pumps (GHP’s), ground-source heat pumps (GSHP’s), and water-source heat pumps, use the earth as a heat sink or heat source depending on the season. Because approximately 75% of the “energy” used in a geothermal system comes directly from the earth, dependence on other energy is minimal and extremely inexpensive to operate. Typical efficiencies rate this renewable heating source between 40% and 75% more efficient than any other high efficiency heating and cooling system. Extreme high energy efficiencies mean very low environmental impact, which benefits everyone, not just the owner of a geothermal system.
Geo
Thermal—Dynamic Drilling was founded by Larry & Aaron Marshall - a father - son
team.
Larry was raised in SD, but lived 10 years in 3 African countries where he began drilling water wells in remote villages that desperately needed fresh water. Upon returning to the US, Larry began drilling geo-thermal wells and eventually decided to start Geo Thermal-Dynamic Drilling with Aaron, his son. Larry was the President of the company until he passed away in Sept. of '09. Aaron has carried on with the company since then and is a licensed well driller and an accredited installer of geothermal systems through International Ground Source Heat Pump Association. Aaron graduated from the University of Colorado with a BS in Business Management in 1999 and also spent many years in the Rapid City building industry since 2000.
